VetJoy – Promoting Veterinary Well-being: Strategies and Resources for a Thriving Profession

To mark the European Mental Health Week, FVE, FECAVA and IVSA present our brand-new mental wellbeing hub www.vetjoy.org, featuring a jointly developed comprehensive toolkit, to support veterinary workplaces and associations in promoting mental well-being and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Studies have shown that veterinarians are experiencing alarming levels of stress, leading to burnout and impacting the work they provide to our beloved animal friends. Thanks to the generous support of Zoetis, the toolkit aims therefore to empower veterinary workplaces to create environments where every team member feels valued, respected, and supported. This includes the launch of Workplace Coaching Vouchers, the photography contest ‘A Day In Your Life: The Diversity Of Veterinary Work’ under the umbrella of the European Diversity Month and our inaugural ‘Great Veterinary Workplaces Award’.

FVE President, Siegfried Moder, speaking on behalf of the FVE, said: “Veterinary workplaces across Europe can access invaluable resources for free through www.vetjoy.org, including workplace coaching vouchers, podcasts, videos, courses, and much more! Join us in creating a brighter future where every member thrives. Let’s build a profession that prioritises well-being for all!

Commenting on the Great Veterinary Workplace Award, Ann Criel, FECAVA Vice-President said: “The inaugural Great Veterinary Workplace Award is your chance to shine and be recognised for your commitment to excellence! We’re looking for workplaces that promote professional engagement, fostering a positive work environment, providing excellent conditions, and demonstrating outstanding leadership!

Speaking on behalf of IVSA, Zuzanna Czekaj, Committee Coordinator added: “As submission for the photography contest, we want to see pictures which best illustrate, both from an artistic and a descriptive point of view, diversity in the veterinary profession, wherever that may be: On a farm, in practice, on the go, in the office, at home, in the lab, in lecture halls, in fact anywhere where veterinarians work!
