Didier-Noël Carlotti Award 2024

The Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA) is honored to announce Dr. Wolfgang Dohne as the recipient of the prestigious Didier-Noël Carlotti Award for 2024. This accolade recognizes exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions to veterinary medicine, embodying dedication, innovation, and leadership.

Dr. Dohne’s veterinary journey began with his studies at Hanover Vet School in Germany and Oslo Vet School in Norway, followed by a career in the UK where he founded and led the Virginia Water Veterinary Clinic after six years of practice. He successfully sold the clinic in 2018 to a corporate veterinary group, marking a key milestone in his career. Additionally, he established Blue Cat Holdings Ltd., offering international advisory and locum services across the UK, the DACH region, and Nordic countries. His involvement extends globally with telemedicine services in Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.

In 2009, Dr. Dohne became a representative of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) within FECAVA, joining its Board in 2011. From 2017-2019, he served as FECAVA President. His leadership has been pivotal in organizing several European and World Small Animal Veterinary Congresses, including this year’s FECAVA EuroCongress in Prague, Czechia.

Dr. Dohne has initiated various international scholarships and in collaboration with WSAVA, launched the FECAVA/WSAVA Global Principles of Veterinary Collegiality in 2021, which has since been translated into 24 languages.

Outside his professional life, Dr. Dohne is an active traveler, hiker, ballroom dancer, and enthusiast of endurance sports. He divides his time between London and Munich, where he also enjoys reading antique books on polar exploration and Nordic Noir fiction.

The award presentation will take place at the FECAVA EuroCongress 2024 in Athens, celebrating his remarkable contributions to veterinary science.
